This is from a really old recipe card that managed to find it’s way into my possession; and I haven’t had the chance to try it yet, but it looks and sounds really good. It’s supposed to be from the Colony Restaurant in New York.
Strawberries a la Colony
2 pt strawberries
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 Cointreau or Grand Marnier
1/2 pt vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1. Gently wash berries in cold water, Drain on paper towels; hull. Turn into serving bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and Cointreau; toss. Chill 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
2. Let ice cream soften in refrigerator about 1 hours.
3. Beat heavy cream just until stiff. Fold in almond extract.
4. Gently fold whipped cream and softened ice cream into strawberry mixture. Serve immediately.

I actually received a large box of these recipe cards when my grandmother passed away a few years ago. I glanced at a few of them, but maybe I need to go back and actually sort them. I am always at a loss and end up making the same thing again and again.
Thanks for the blog post!
Thank you sooo much for this recipe, I think I’ve seen you somewhere. Anyways nice site. Though It was a tad difficult to get Grand Marineir around where I live.
